Proclinical is seeking a dedicated Senior Scientist for a hybrid role. This position focuses on the development and optimization of scalable upstream manufacturing processes, particularly involving bioreactors and viral vectors. The successful candidate will have to have a proactive approach to scientific experimentation and collaboration with internal and external teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently and collaboratively set up and handle bioreactors for manufacturing research/nonclinical grade viral vectors and recombinant proteins using mammalian cell suspension systems.
  • Develop and optimize scalable upstream manufacturing processes using tools like Design of Experiments (DoE).
  • Lead the development and implementation of methods and protocols.
  • Execute, analyze, quality control, and present data within the scope of work.
  • Design, execute, and document scientific experiments with high quality and timeliness.
  • Provide project summaries and reports, adhering to established quality standards and accurate record-keeping.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer and training of junior staff and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with the internal CMC team for the transfer of manufacturing and quality aspects from Research to CMC.
  • Support work involving external collaborations and Contract Development & Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs).
  • Source, develop, and evaluate technologies and processes for AAV batches to improve yield, quality, and impurity profiles.

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • D. in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience in running bioreactors with suspension cultures of mammalian cells.
  • Experience in viral vector (especially AAV) manufacture in bioreactors and conducting Design of Experiment (DoE) studies.
  • Familiarity with biochemical analytical monitoring of bioreactors.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Evidence of scientific accomplishments through publications and presentations.
  • Strong critical, scientific, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Experience in interpreting and presenting data to stakeholders.
