Proclinical is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our partnered client in Italy. In this role, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining hardware, diagnosing and resolving customer complaints. You will act as an engineering consultant during pre- and post-sales activities and work with the commercial team to support sales growth, instrument uptime, and customer satisfaction. This position requires extensive travel within the region.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely onsite technical assistance to customers and internal teams.
  • Install, upgrade, repair, and maintain instrument systems.
  • Maintain up-to-date service and training manuals, field service bulletins, and SOPs.
  • Offer technical support to customers, junior engineers, colleagues, and contractors.
  • Coordinate and prioritize service requests to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Manage inventory levels of service parts to promote first-time fixes.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to coordinate new system placements and promote upgrades.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
  • Ensure effective problem resolution and compliance with administrative responsibilities.
  • Execute qualification and validation products at customer sites.
  • Participate in departmental project teams to ensure successful project execution.

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Informatic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology/Biomedical, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in a field service engineer role, preferably within the medical device sector.
  • Knowledge of optical alignments, robotics, electrical/electronics, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and general lab best practices.
  • Familiarity with genomics, sequencing applications, and bioinformatics is preferred.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 90%.
