Overview

Our partner is a small medical device company based in Sydney, Australia, focused on cervical tissue scanning to detect pre-cancerous changes. They needed to recruit a new Chief Technical Officer (CTO) but were not having much success finding suitable candidates themselves.

The challenge

We approached the company after noticing they had been advertising the position for a while. They required an individual with the right balance of technical capability and leadership experience to help take their business forward, but this was quite a narrow talent pool and competition for individuals of this calibre was high. They were not considering using a recruitment partner but when we informed them of the quality of professionals in our network, they were keen to get our support.

The solution

We knew a number of professionals who were potentially suitable for the position, however they were all employed at other life science companies and not actively looking for a move. As our partner was not a well-known brand, we needed to engage candidates by informing them of our partner’s vision and values, and the opportunity for growth that this role would present them.

We submitted several candidate profiles to our partner, who were very impressed with the level of quality and requested to interview several of them.

The outcome

Our partner recruited one of the candidates we presented to them as their new CTO.

The organisation was delighted with our level of service and their new hire, who has become a key member of their leadership team.

We have since signed an exclusivity agreement and subsequently filled 2 more positions for our partner (senior software engineer and medical affairs project lead).

We are now engrained in their business for talent delivery.
