Clinical Research Oncology Nurse - Contract - Jackson, Michigan

Proclinical is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse for a role in Clinical Oncology Research.

Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with physician investigators to ensure the objectives of oncology research protocols are met, in compliance with IRB and sponsor guidelines. This role involves patient recruitment, clinical testing and coordination of patient care across multiple departments. The candidate will also provide education to patients and their families about diagnosis, clinical trials and investigational chemotherapy.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Current valid Michigan RN license.
  • OCN certification or willingness to obtain within three years of hire.
  • ACRP or SOCRA certification preferred.
  • Experience in oncology research.
  • Proficiency in using computer software to access and input data.

The Clinical Research Oncology Nurse's responsibilities will be:

  • Perform assessments independently and in collaboration with the physician investigator.
  • Recognize and enroll patients into oncology trials.
  • Complete clinical testing and check results to discover if a patient is eligible for a clinical trial.
  • Coordinate patient care across multiple departments, ensuring adherence to protocol and clinical timelines.
  • Educate patients and their families on diagnosis, clinical trial, and investigational chemotherapy.
  • Oversee the administration of investigational chemotherapy treatment.
  • Triage all patient clinical needs, including immediate and delayed reactions from the investigational agent.
  • Initiate direct admissions to the hospital, and referrals to Behavioral Health, Homecare and/or Hospice as appropriate.
  • Produce educational in-services on investigational chemotherapy and clinical trial compliance measures to infusion nurses, inpatient staff and other departments as necessary.
