Senior Director, Software Engineering - Permanent - Durham, NC

Proclinical is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead and manage our software engineering team.

Primary Responsibilities:

This role focuses on developing and implementing software strategies aligned with company goals, overseeing software system design and maintenance, and driving cross-functional collaboration, particularly with Research & Development and Data Science teams.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles.
  • Strong background in software architecture and design patterns.
  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages (Python) and knowledge of cloud services and cloud architecture.
  • Excellent communication and team management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Experience in designing and managing data management infrastructure.
  • Experience in overseeing IT operations and infrastructure.

The Senior Director, Software Engineering's responsibilities will be:

  • Lead and manage the software engineering team.
  • Mentor and grow existing and new team members.
  • Define headcount needs and empower the team with appropriate opportunities.
  • Develop and implement software strategies aligned with the company's goals.
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of software systems.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to integrate software with biotech wet and dry lab processes.
  • Ensure software quality, reliability, and scalability, and compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Promote best practices for software engineering via design and code reviews.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of a robust data management infrastructure, including a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Manage and optimize cloud environments for scalability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee IT strategy and implementation across the company.
  • Drive the implementation of data visualization tools for actionable insights.

Compensation:

USD $215 000 - $220 000
