Proclinical is seeking a remote Executive Director, Scientific Communications and Publications for a leading pharmaceutical company. Incumbent will lead the successful development and implementation of the global publication plan and scientific communications strategy initiatives in alignment with Company brand and corporate strategies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead creation of the communications strategy and publication plan of lead product and pipeline assets in solid tumors in close collaboration with cross functional teams and external partners
  • Serve as Chair of Publication Team and Strategic Publication Planning meetings
  • Supervise timely execution of the publication plan to produce high quality, accurate and impactful deliverables including abstracts, posters, oral presentations, manuscripts and slide presentations and other documents; ensure appropriate evaluation and presentation of data, methodology, interpretation, and alliance with business objectives
  • Provides scientific/clinical direction, manages, and delivers on global scientific communications plan; bring outstanding functional expertise, consistency, and innovation to the medical team to optimally design and implement scientific communication activities and long-term engagement
  • Plan, develop and implement educational plan, and other scientific programs that communicate important information to the medical and scientific community.
  • Ensures documentation of compliance with authorship and publication guidelines as stipulated by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and Good Publication Practice for Communicating Company Sponsored Medical Research (GPP)
  • Works with and oversee publication vendors to ensure deliverables are of high quality, delivered in a timely manner, and in budget
  • Liaises with internal and external stakeholders, co-development company, including authors, researchers, investigators, medical leads, R&D clinical leads, bio stats and Publications Committee members on publication activities
  • Leads study publication committee discussions, including monthly, quarterly, and yearly publication update meetings as needed
  • Manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and ensures expert input during development of team deliverables
  • Identify, screen, manage and supervise medical communications agency and manage all financial and contractual aspects of assigned projects
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a timely and cost-efficient manner and demonstrates ability to provide clear, concise status updates to management and internal partners
  • Assists in the development/enhancement and implementation of policies, procedures, and processes for the department
  • Manages funds and resources appropriately of medical communication plan budget (i.e. Publications, Medical Slides, and other related projects)
  • Ability to be independent, multitask and results oriented with hands-on attitude in a fast-paced and energetic environment

Skills and Requirements:

  • Advanced degree: PhD, PharmD, or MD/DO
  • 8-10 More Years of pharmaceutical industry, clinical, and/or academic experience required
  • Background in oncology desired, preferable breast cancer
  • 10 or More Years with publication/communication agency may be considered
  • 8 or More Years experience with publication planning required
  • 8 or More Years experience with clinical trials and international work experience preferred
  • Knowledge of relevant publications related industry rules and guidelines (ie: GPP3, ICJME); ISMPP certification preferred
  • Ability to interpret and organize highly complex scientific data, including experience reviewing clinical trial data and output from statistical analysis programs
  • Strong working knowledge of current good publication practices and guidelines
  • Demonstrated experience and track record for timely planning and execution of key initiatives, department priorities, and project coordination
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including public presentations are essential
  • Strong inter-personal skills and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent organization and project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills, especially about understanding and interpreting scientific and clinical research and literature, are essential
  • Demonstrated budget and resource management skills
  • Travel 30-45%
